can help sell your
message
IBDigtal
members relate to the Chartered
[Royal
Charter] Society of
Designers
and the Institute
of
Printing,
contributing to the IoP Education
Committee. As
the latter may indicate IBDigital
have, for many years, been involved in
design for print. Design of books,
promotional materials
and information graphics involving
detail attention to information
presentation (see
below). The latter is oh
so important in multimedia
work when the media
must clearly communicate the
message! Online
working means the manager is a founder
member of The
Telework
Association.
Design influences our every move (e.g.
road signs); type
is everywhere (e.g. this screen!) and
knowledge of
it's use
is fundamental to good
communication. This home
page is designed for Internet
Explorer version 5.0
or higher and I recommend that Options:
General Preferences: Fonts:
be set for a sans serif typeface
e.g. Helvetica, and using 12pt. The page
is viewed by me using Stone Sans
type on screen.
Electronic
publishing
IBDigital
can see the benefits, green and
otherwise,offered by the new
media. Publishing
on CD and the world wide web open
up great
scope for storage and retrieval
to everyman
or woman. There
are now many organisations and
interested parties
covering many aspects of electronic
publishing. Norfolk
& Waveney Telematics group locally
aim to
spread the word and the benefits of
computers to commerce
in line
with the objectives of UK government
initiatives with
which IBDigital is now a partner. Web
pages IBDigital has authored
include: Phoenix Training; Alfashop; South
Norfolk Business Directory and Premises
Directory and
now available is say cheese - a specialist
cheese retailer of renown. A later
addition is
Partimex Trading International - a
specialist car parts exporter of some
standing, Land Rover, Rover
and Mini. Watch this
space.
Computer
aided
design
Having
been involved with the Apple
computer since the Macintosh
Plus IBDigital can say that it
was instrumental
in the adoption of computer aided
design in the form of desktop
publishing. From
the early days of PageMaker v1.2 through
to Adobe
PageMaker v6.5 today, including
many 'drawing' packages, most
particularly FreeHand [once Aldus now
Macromedia]. The
introduction of Quark Xpress, as it became
an industry standard
and the extensive use of Adobe
PhotoShop. The
power of Macromedia Director, Adobe
Premier and Hypercard together
now with Adobe
Acrobat
all add power to the multimedia
switch. Adobe's
creation and launch of
InDesign
now puts a new dimension on page make-up
and the link to the web.
Claris HomePage, Macromedia Dreamweaver
and Adobe
Golive
all enable web site production.
Telework[ers]
Telecottage Association
(TCA)
The
TCA has been in operation since 1993
and many
of it's members have probably
been 'teleworking'
for much longer. Click on the
headline to
visit the TCA web site and see
what advantage
and assistance accrues from
membership.
In essence the TCA is a collection of
'teleworkers' working
from home (Telecottage) or from
community establishments,
for example village halls
(Telecentres). It
is a 'green' solution to the vexed
question of commuting
to work, why go by car? why not go to
work online
using the telephone. For IBDigital this is
an excellent way forward and are excited
by the
ability to communicate world-wide from the
PC, by
fax or via the web and email at the price
of a local phone call!
